Here is where you can find details on all different types of public broadband funding opportunities across the United States. We provide information on both federal funding programs and state level programs. Broadband funding can come in many different forms: there are infrastructure grants, planning grants, last/middle mile grants, and many more. Calix keeps track of all these programs and presents them in an easy to follow fashion.
With BEAD Funding around the corner, $42.45 billion will be distributed amongst the states to expand internet access by funding planning, infrastructure deployment, and adoption. Each state is expected to receive $100 Million at the very least and will distribute these funds through their individual programs they have established. Using the map below, you can keep track of all the active funding programs in each state, and which ones to look out for in the future. In the meantime, states are continuing to use ARPA money to fund these programs.
“The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, provides $42.45 billion to expand high-speed internet access by funding planning, infrastructure deployment, and adoption programs in all 50 states and territories.” –BEAD Website.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers several loan and grant opportunities for telecommunications providers to fund the construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas. The USDA has invested billions of dollars in rural telecommunications infrastructure over the past several decades.
As part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), $350 billion was allocated to state, local, and tribal governments to help fund various improvements in their respective states as part of their response to and recovery from COVID-19. Many states have used part of their allocation to create broadband funding programs to help improve internet connectivity across their states.
“The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program is a $980 million program directed to tribal governments to be used for broadband deployment on tribal lands, as well as for telehealth, distance learning, broadband affordability, and digital inclusion.” – Straight from the NTIA Website.
We also post funding alerts for all active programs to ensure everyone is aware of the funding opportunities within their regions. Our goal is to make all this information easily accessible and help broadband providers receive as much funding as possible. We are successful if you are successful!
