Abstract:

It is easy to define a SDN-inspired network, much harder to build one, and very difficult to migrate an access network from the current operating environment to one that lives up to the principles of SDN. Together, Calix and our service provider partners are doing all three.

As an illustration of the capabilities of Calix’s AXOS platform, cable operators are now leveraging DPx – the industry’s first Virtualized Network Function to not only enable DOCSIS provisioning of PON but move to a Zero Touch Provisioning operational model that minimizes network complexity in a multi-vendor, multi-PHY environment.

In this session, we will review a critical element to Calix’s Software defined PON – DPx – the industry’s first DOCSIS Virtualized Network Function (VNF) for the provisioning of PON. Craig Patten of Charter Communications and Philip Roland of Momentum Telecom discuss how they have leveraged DPx in their unique operational environments.

Regardless of your company’s DNA - Telco, Municipality, WISP, or Cable Operator - you will want to tune in to see how AXOS is living up the principles of SDN.
