Calix extends its 10G PON market leadership with new Intelligent Access EDGE XGS-PON capabilities enabling broadband service providers to reduce OPEX and CAPEX and simplify the management of an Always On subscriber experience with Calix Operations Cloud and the Network Innovation Platform (AXOS)
SAN JOSE, CA – November 18, 2021 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) today launched new end-to-end enhancements for Calix Operations Cloud (Operations Cloud) and the Intelligent Access EDGE solution, powered by the Network Innovation Platform (AXOS). These enhancements include new alarm aggregation and analysis capabilities, PON redundancy capabilities, optics that extend geographic coverage over 300%, and new ONTS. These enhancements expand the value of Calix solutions from the access network to the subscriber edge by enabling broadband service providers (BSPs) to rapidly deliver 10G Always On services while reducing operational expenses for residential and business subscribers in remote rural areas. This powerful combination ensures wider availability of 10G services—critical for businesses—and rapid deployment of simplified end-to-end 10G service. By accelerating and streamlining the delivery of services to remote subscribers, BSPs can significantly lower the OPEX for new deployments.
Over 225 BSPs around the world are building Calix-powered XGS-PON networks to deliver high-speed symmetrical 10G services to both residences and businesses. For these BSPs, a reliable access network, along with continued subscriber satisfaction, are critical long-term investments. With the Intelligent Access EDGE and new XGS-PON capabilities, BSPs can advance their future proofing capabilities even further by realizing these three benefits.
With its Always On capabilities, Calix customers are leveraging the Intelligent Access EDGE with the Network Innovation Platform and Operations Cloud to deploy multi-gigabit services throughout rural areas and over challenging terrain. For example, Paul Bunyan Communications is growing its network with 10G services, connecting more communities to broadband services, and maintaining critical services during fiber cuts.
“As the region’s fastest all-fiber optic network, we take pride in delivering an exceptional subscriber experience,” said Rob St. Clair, network operations manager at Paul Bunyan Communications. “The Always On capabilities of the Intelligent Access EDGE and Network Innovation Platform enable us to keep critical services operational while ensuring we can future proof our network to meet subscriber demands. Because we can rapidly deploy our XGS-PON network and maintain critical services when fiber lines are cut, we’re successfully exciting subscribers while simplifying our business. We’re eager to explore the value of Operations Cloud as a means to help us rapidly and accurately identify fiber cuts so we know exactly where to send our field techs on truck rolls.”
“Broadband service providers need 10G XGS-PON networks to support applications like HD and 4K content streaming, video surveillance services, and cloud-enabled interactive gaming,” said Shane Eleniak, executive vice president of products at Calix. “The new Intelligent Access EDGE XGS-PON capabilities leverage the power of Operations Cloud, reinforcing our end-to-end solution strategy, and further extends our 10G PON market leadership. By making it easier than ever to deliver and manage an Always On subscriber experience in rural areas, BSPs can quickly capture market opportunity, grow value for their communities, and slash OPEX and CAPEX.”
